چکیده

Differential expression of isozymes enables fish to tolerate temperature fluctuations in their environment. The present study explores the modulation lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and cytoplasmic malate (sMDH) isozyme heart, muscle, brain, liver, gill, kidney juvenile Horabagrus brachysoma after 30 days acclimation at 26, 31, 33, 36°C. LDH sMDH zymography were performed using native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. revealed five distinct bands isoenzymes (labelled from cathode anode as LDH-A4, LDH-A3B1, LDH-A2B2, LDH-A1B3, LDH-B4) three sMDH-A2, sMDH-AB, sMDH-B2), with considerable variation tissues. Acclimation test temperatures did not influence patterns or isozymes. Densitometric analysis individual a reduction densities containing LDH-B sMDH-B molecules, while LDH-A sMDH-A molecules increased gills indicating role these organs adaptive responses thermal acclimation. However, total higher temperatures, that adaptation H. is primarily characterised by quantitative changes expression.

Horabagrus melanosoma: a junior synonym of Horabagrus brachysoma (Teleostei: Horabagridae).

Horabagrus melanosoma was described from West Venpala in the lower reaches of the Manimala River, in the state of Kerala, India. It was distinguished from its nearest congener, H. brachysoma based on a combination of characters including darker body colour, shorter pelvic fin and greater number of anal fin rays. Examination of the type material revealed significant morphometric and meristic dis...

Convergent evolution of Trichomonas vaginalis lactate dehydrogenase from malate dehydrogenase.

Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is present in the amitochondriate parasitic protist Trichomonas vaginalis and some but not all other trichomonad species. The derived amino acid sequence of T. vaginalis LDH (TvLDH) was found to be more closely related to the cytosolic malate dehydrogenase (MDH) of the same species than to any other LDH. A key difference between the two T. vaginalis sequences was tha...

Genetic basis of the major malate dehydrogenase isozymes in maize.

The mitochondrial MDH isozymes in the scutellum of the mature maize (Zea mays L.) kernel are encoded by three independently inherited nuclear genes. Mdh1 is located on chromosome 8, close to the breakpoint (8L.35) of a waxy-marked reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 8 and 9. Mdh2 is located in the distal region of the long arm of chromosome 6. Mdh3 is on the long arm of chromosome 3, a...
